GOING GREEN.. 1st episode

Since dah lama tak update blog ni... saja nak update bab laman yg masih kosong tapi dah bertambah hijau...

Time bawa balik pokok hijau nih... masa ni pikir best kalau ada pickup cam storm ker, rexton ker.. apa2 pun keta i juga jd mangsa... anyway, actually tak tau nak beli pokok apa... nama pokok ni pun ntah betul ntah tak "Australian Velu (rasanya Auistralian Value)" kata pekerja kat nursery Sg. Buloh tu... belasah jer la... janji senang nak jaga... (ntah senang ntah tidak )

Harga sebatang 60 hinggit... tak tau ler kira murah ker mahal... untuk percubaan... jgn bila tanam jer, mati pokok ni sudah ler.. tentu keciwa nak gardening in the future...

Pokok ooo pokok... hidup subur ler kat laman rumah I... GOING GREEN.... baru sedap sket mata memandang...

HOME Sweet Home - WALL STICKER

Experiment the home deco with wall sticker.... the easy and cheaper way of wall decorating... So for the wall at family area... tempat Irfan lepak watching CARS or his other cartoons  ... letakkan gambar cat and butterfly... he likes it... my hubby and I also like it...

Then, for foyer's wall... also in green... I sticked some flower pics.. turn out the result not so nice... but just let it be for a while... kalau rasa muak nanti tanggalkan jer.... takder la ralat sgt... hopefully I wont turn the house into a kindergarten with all the stickers... huhuhu

Anyway, my home still need lots of soft touch.... hmmm..hmmmm...hmmmmmm...

HOME sweet home - STAIRS

Tangga.. ooo... Tangga... rumah tangga or tangga rumah... hmmmm... tangga rumah kepada rumah rumah tangga ... apa2 laaa...

Perihal tangga... ini pun satu hal jugak dgn contractor nyer... mmg memeningkan kepala lah... Anyway, after perioooooods of time.. akhirnya... complete juga perihal tangga (railing jer... budget untuk tukar flooring tangga mmg takder laaaa..)

Railing asalnyer dah ler kaler pink.. gap palang besar sgt laaa,,, risau plak Irfan suka main2 kat tangga nanti... So tukar ler tangga tu... at first booked the glass type... all about modern (kononnyer la)... then since its among the last work to start, budget pun dah ter over spent to benda2 lain... so tukar ler to Wrought Iron saja, itupun sebab dah bayar 20% deposit awal2 lg (time tak pikir panjang)... otherwise mmg dah lama cancel...

for quite sometime jugak ler tangga ni 'bogel'.. penat jugak buat follow up dari awal2 sampai habis ( in progress, dpt tau the saleman is tendering his resignation), mmg patut pun... gaya tak minat buat keje  then cari keje lain aaaa..ini menyusahkan org lain... hmmmm ... sabar jer la (sempat meluahkan perasaan haha)

Ini pun belum siap.. the wooden handrail not yet install  until last weekend (after we have move in) ... now my house concept is mixed up... hahaha... janji ada rumah... :)

Sekarang ni every weekend buzy jer untuk siapkan rumah baru... so every week will be at our new house... Lepas satu... satu... dgn ada contractor keje tak setel2... ada jer delay... and baru2 ni, papa plak tetiba nak tambah wiring... so ingatkan dah nak siap... now back to tak siap2.... tension bab2 habuk... dgn construction kat luar taman perumahan and now dgn wall hacking activities....

Irfan peneman setia  setiap minggu... kadang2 ok jer mood dia... so senang ler kita nak buat kerja, mengemas apa yg patut... tapi kekadang buat perangai... terpaksa lah melayan kerenah dia...

HOME sweet home - KITCHEN CABINET

Nowdays, kitchen cabinet is an essential item on the reno list. "Happy family start with a good home made meal..." hahaha... home made cooking... macam tak percaya jer. Well, once dah ada own kitchen, no more excuse for not cooking. After all, it will inspire ladies to always be in the kitchen... cooking :)

We got the kitchen cabinet deal during CIMB Home Living exhibition, kononnya harga promotion. But after the exhibition, similar price also... hmmm... anyway, that's the best deal that we can get. Actually we booked from 2 different cos at that time, so have to cancel one of them since getting  lower quotation from the 2nd co.

My kitchen cabinet built up : ~18 ft of base unit, 2ft of tall unit, 9 ft of wall unit and 3ft of wall paneling. Using solid surface table top and 3G glass panel.
Lepas booked and closed deal.. certain info being found out..

Solid table top - ada local and imported (Singapore, etc).. the difference local one is cheaper of coz... quality wise not sure but if you support BUATAN MALAYSIA and trust the quality that we have, then I think it is at par compared to what... Singapore... hmmm  mcm sama jer... silap2 org2 malaysia yg bekerja kat Singapore (ada ker kilang solid surface top kat Sg.)  the different only on the pattern. Of coz the  so called imported one has more fancy designs. Masa kitaorg dpt quotation, actually the solid top is local made, tapi kitaorg tak tau pun sampai lah dah install.

Anyway, sebagai panduan kena tanya lah solid top tu local or imported for better bargain, in our case local solid table top was quoted at RM160/ft... but the other co.(the one that we cancel) quoted for RM140/ft after our cabinet is ready.... hmmmm a bit losses there..but the rest of the cabinet parts still lower... so tak ler ralat sgt sb cancel dgn co yg 1 ni...

Door panel... ini macam2 jenis... for current 'modern' type... acrylic and 3G glass... harga sama jer... the differences: 3G glass has better scratch resistance (katanya ler) but cannot be drilled through (that's why its come with built in handle)...and the color is less brighter which I prefer. To those who fancy striking color then go for acrylic.

Color that we chose for our kitchen is quite weirdo - grey brownish or brown greyish ... take your pick.. since the color a bit lain, ended up the cabinet side laminating has to be in white and the wall panel with glass shelving which is acrylic in brown. We also need to change the solid surface top from meadow (white with grey and brown spots) to snow flake (white with snow flake of coz :)). Sebabnya dah order 3G glass, then only dpt tahu itu tak ada, ini tak ada in that color... hmmmm... Compared to the other parts of the house, it looks like that my kitchen is a dull place to hang around :O

Still need a new wall paneling in between the base unit & wall unit since the tiling for my kitchen wall is hideous. And the kitchen flooring even worst... hmmmm... both need to wait for another phase... (kalau lah ada another phase... surely not in the near future).. overall rasa mcm tak berbaloi pulak my kitchen cabinet for the cost that I have to pay... hmmmm.... not so good deal... or mmg harga zaman sekarang dah tak ingat dunia... :(

HOME Sweet Home - PLASTER CEILING

Tujuan kitaorg 'plaster' kan siling rumah adalah untuk install downlight. Modern concept la katakan, so no more fancy2 hanging light... tapi ada jugak ler sikit hanging light sebagai penyeri (insisted by me)... kalau tak jadi mcm office plak. A friend of my hubby recommended this 1 kedai.... so we just straight away closed our deal with the shop for plaster ceiling, electrical wiring installation,  plus install wall partition and small door for our store room underneath the staircase.

At first, its look like the work is done quite fast and I'm a bit impressed and satisfed with the workmanship. But after few days, no turned up. I bet they have another project somewhere else. After a while, the installation for my house is delayed and halfway done. Am very dissapointed with the sales rep. who taking care our account, he's the one who arranged  the work and their scheduled, but not taking the responsibility as he should. When hubby called, not answering the phone, when I called then give excuses.

Then the workers who painted the plaster ceiling doing a sloppy job , ended up we have to get P.Rashid team to touch up the other part of the house which  in messed with the plaster ceiling's paint.  Worst part is our small store room, which pissed me off the most till today.

Imagined, for the unpainted wall partition and door without any finishing  (semata2 board kayu ntah dari mana2 tempat buangan), we are being charged 850. RM850 for the store room in that condition!!. Bila telefon tanya, jawapan yg  kitaorg dapat "mmg tak termasuk cat"... what the #$%^&*()*_%#^&YT$**^% !!!!! Sabar.. sabar.. sabar... dah lah bertahun tunggu pintu store tak sampai2.. bila dah sampai, lain pulak cerita nya...huhhhh... bara jer... nasib ler ada lagi balance RM900+ belum bayar...

So bila dah kata tak termasuk cat, kitaorg mintak ler P.Rashid team tolong finished kan ...licinkan pintu, and cat dinding & pintu store tu.... takkan nak biarkan store room dlm keadaan yg mendukacitakan  Nasib ler kebetulan P.Rashid still ada kerja kat rumah kitaorg. Now, the Sales person dah start call my husband, konon nak cat kan pintu dan dinding store tu... buat bodo jer laaa...tgk sampai bila dia nak follow up... till now, we have not pay the balanced. Ingat nak gi bayar, tapi not RM850 for the store room... Plzzzz laaaaa... saja biarkan lelama sikit... baru dia tahu...

Moral of the story :

1) Need to be around while contractor's doing their job

2) Do not ever make full payment for these type of services...

3) Kalau dah terima sesuatu amanah tu, buat lah yg terbaik, sampai selesai...

4) Buat baik di balas baik, buat jahat jgn sekali... :)

HOME sweet home - TEMBOK & TILES

My small semi-D only has 8 feet yard, to avoid future headache, we decided to tile up the small yard that we have. Kalau tak siapalah yg nak jaga rumput2 sekangkang kera tu. Untuk buat kerja2 ni, kitaorg guna contractor yg biasa renovate rumah in-law - P.Rashid & team, kira dah kenal ler... Alhamdullilah, untuk rumah ni kitaorg puas hati ler dgn kerja2 diorng, sebab workmanship ok dan cepat jugakler siap, plus dpt free consultation on other house related matters.

Untuk tembok, the cost is fully borned by us eventhough there was a suggestion to share the cost with our neighbor. After all, the neighbor's house is rented by foreign's students, thus a bit difficult to liaise with the owner on this matter. Well, the owner is lucky then, have a generous neighbor like us... hahaha.

Total cost untuk tembok pagar ni, tiles for our small yard, extended back and side awning... hmmmm... tak sure ler mahal atau murah atau average jer since we don't have any reference... Yang penting team P.Rashid tak memeningkan kepala kitaorg sepanjang projek tembok dan tiles ni berjalan. Hasilnya...

Floor pattern is designed by myself... last minutes nyer design.. at first nak buat simple 3 straight lines with 2 color tiles, then tetiba ntah mimpi apa.. nak tukar plak pattern. Tile dah di order, dah sampai pun, so based on the original design terhasil lah pattern yg kekal kat luar rumahku ini. Draw dekat dlm excel sheet mcm cantik jer pattern ni... tapi... bila dah tertanam kat luar rumah... uwaaaaaa... (nyesal pun ada)... jadi lah abstract pattern.

Moral of the story:

1) no last minutes  a.k.a plan first before execute

2) nak buat design untuk rumah gunalah tool yg sesuai (ada ka guna excel ja)

Anyway, lepas ni tanam pokok dalam pasu jer laaa... itupun kalau ada pokok. Now, ada sikit jer tanah kat bahagian depan rumah, tinggalkan untuk irfan main golf...  :). Otherwise, nanti kalau nak main golf, asyik kena balik rumah wan jer... sapa susah...

HOME sweet home - GRILL

Living in Malaysia, house grill is a must.. a gate is a must (of coz for landed houses and except Putrajaya).. and in the near future, not surprising the web surveillance or cctv is a must for every house especially in Klang Valley and big cities. Why aaaa???  Is the crime rate really out of control... or are we feeling insecure live in today's community... However, BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY !!.

So, mengikut peredaran semasa... 'ter'pasang lah grill untuk rumah ku...2 types of grill that I know - 1 made of wrought iron and and 1 of mild steel... and another 1 a combination of both... tu dah 3 jenis... hmm tah la. Maybe ada lagi material lain yg digunakan tapi aku pun tak tau. Wrought  iron is a bit expensive maybe about 40-60% higher than mild steel.

The grill's design - simple, tradisional, modern, flowery, abstract, etc... lots of design that can we choose from.

For our house, konon2 nyer nak berkonsepkan modern contemporary. So at first, nak jer design grill yg simple, ikut trend - horizontal stripes la... tapi, bila tgk banyak rumah2 jiran yg pasang grill horizontal ni... nampak mcm too simple and boring plak.

Then, consider horizontal with verical border in between the panel.

Jalan2 lagi, then nampak design flower yg looks modern... because of the white color rasanya.. berkenan jugak ler bila tgk. Tapi kalau berbunga2... dah berserabut sgt, konsep modern simplicity ( tadi modern contemporary daaaa... apa2 jer la).. dah tak kena plak.

So pikir punya pikir... terhasil lah grill untuk rumahku - rasanya still simple with a little flower untuk menghilangkan rasa boring... :o

HOME Sweet Home - 1st edition

My husband and I just bought a house early this year... Masa beli rumah ni, kitaorg tak fikir panjang pun, just take 1 hour to decide and pay the deposit. Although we favour the other house type, still we opted for the house since that's the only house left  which is within our budget and the house is ready to be occupied. So tak payah nak peningkan kepala developer tak siapkan project or the project is delayed. Lagi pun masa close the deal, we have an option to rent the house. Well, keep looking for one and there will be many excuses along the way...so beli jer lah. As for me, its time to move on... to live by ourselves :)

Its funny though, few months back  time survey my hubby dah ter"bekenan" dgn 1 rumah ni, so few times gi visit... mmg nice and beautiful, my hubby bawa my mil and gmil to look at the house, but seems no approval received, .. so masa beli rumah ni, my hubby asked me to keep it secret first... hmmmm.... kiranya berahsia dgn family in-laws sebab my hubby tak tau camna nak bagitau his family that our new house will be quite a distance (jauh ler sikit... tapi kira tak jauh mana lah, my office is farther away, so daily travel is still acceptable, though of coz not that convenience). Awal2 lagi I told my hubby I dont want to interfere on how he's going to break the news and the decision to move out is final. Target is end of the year. What a drama....

So lepas settle hal loan and agreement, dapat ler kunci sebelum puasa hari tu... after Raya baru all out with the furnishing and a bit of renovation... apa yg patut. Since the new house is closer to my work place, so I have to handle all the contractors... what a tiring especially when the job done is not as expected. To date, about 70% completed... without the soft furnishing of coz...

Baru tahu, bukan sikit belanja nak masuk rumah baru tambahan pulak kitaorg start from zero, means everything (well... almost everyting) is new. Dah buat budget planning, but accoding to my budget planner (which is my hubby), its common for the budget to burst 100%... cehhhh.... anyway, since the money is his, better for me to keep my mouth shut ... hahaha...
